7-11 Advisory Commitee

A 7-11 committee is an advisory committee that reviews and analyzes a school district's property and makes a recommendation to the School Board on possible uses. The committee typically has between seven and eleven members who represent a variety of groups, including teachers, administrators, parents, and members of the business community.

The Auburn Union School District Board of Trustees, District leadership team, and staff underwent a detailed and holistic review of the district’s surplus real properties during the 2023-2024 school year.  AUSD's major asset category was determined to be real property which includes land and school facilities. As it is our fiduciary responsibility to maximize these assets, ensuring they are utilized efficiently and effectively, a 7-11 Committee was formed.
California law designates the specific duties of a 7-11 Committee (Education Code § 17390) as follows:
a. Review the projected school enrollment and other data as provided by the district to determine the amount of surplus space and real property;
b. Establish a priority list of use of surplus space and real property that will be acceptable to the community;
c. Cause to have circulated throughout the attendance area a priority list of surplus space and real property and provide for hearings of community input to the Committee on acceptable uses of space and real property, including the sale or lease of surplus real property for child care development purposes pursuant to Education Code § 17458;
d. Make a final determination of limits of tolerance of the use of space and real property;
e. Forward to the Board of Trustees a report recommending the use of surplus space and real property.

Local Control and Accountability Parent Advisory Committee (LCAP PAC)
California uses the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) to determine how schools are funded. Districts determine how to spend funds to best meet students’ needs; involvement and input from teachers, staff, administrators, parents, students, and community members is required in making decisions about how funds are spent. The final plan for achieving goals and spending funds is the Local Control and Accountability Plan.

One key aspect of the LCAP process is the engagement of all community members. Staff, teachers, administrators, bargaining partners, community members, parents/guardians and students — including foster youth, homeless, and those from low-income and English learner communities — are to be consulted to provide feedback on the plan.
AUSD establishes an LCAP Parent Advisory Committee, as per California Education Code 52062 and 52063, to review and comment on the LCAP.
