Transitional Kindergarten is for those families who are exploring options prior to Kindergarten. Transitional Kindergarten provides a state-funded, two-year Kindergarten experience for children.

 

The Auburn Union School District Transitional Kindergarten program will provide a supportive environment for your child and will focus on social and emotional development, physical and motor development, as well as academic skills needed to prepare your child for Kindergarten.

Transitional Kindergarten is the first year of a two-year, state-funded Kindergarten experience for students. Research suggests that children greatly benefit from programs that address school readiness and Transitional Kindergarten will provide this opportunity for our students.

2023-24 School Year Age Eligibility and Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK):
  • Your student is eligible for TK for the 2023-24 school year if their 5th birthday falls between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024.
2022-23 School Year Age Eligibility and Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten (TK):
  • Your student is eligible for TK if their 5th birthday falls between September 2, 2022, and February 2, 2023.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is being offered at the following elementary schools for all families for the 2023-2024 school year:
  • Skyridge Elementary School
  • Auburn Elementary School
  • Alta Vista Community Charter School

How does enrollment work?

How does enrollment work?
 
For Pre-enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year, click here to complete the form.  You will be notified in July via email to complete the official enrollment process.
 
For the current school year:
  • Begin the enrollment process by creating a username and password in Aeries.

  • Once in Aeries, respond to the prompts.

  • Once this process is complete, you will be notified by the school office staff regarding the status of your child’s placement in the program.
 
 

What forms are required to enroll?

What forms are required to enroll?
 
Required Forms to be presented to your school of enrollment for verification:  
    • Immunization records:  Students whose immunizations are not up-to-date will not be allowed to attend school. 
    • Proof of Age document:  (1st time California enrollment only) Please provide one of the following for verification; certified birth certificate, baptism certificate, passport, adoption record, official hospital record of birth showing doctor's signature.  If  none of the above is obtainable, an affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian of the student can be provided.  
    • One proof of residency document: A rental property contract, lease, or payment stub; mortgage statement; a utility service contract, statement or payment receipt (i.e. gas, electric, or water bill); property tax payment receipt; pay stub; voter registration; correspondence from a government agency; or affidavit of residency executed by the parent or legal guardian of the student.  (Not required for Alta Vista Community Charter School).
    • TK/K Transportation & Food Allergy Notice is also required and can be printed from the “Required Documents Page” during the online enrollment process.

Inter-District Transfer Requests

If you are enrolling your child as an INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER STUDENT (i.e. from Ackerman, Colfax, or Placer Hills school districts, or another out-of-district area), you will first need to go to your district of residence and complete an Inter-district Transfer Request form.  Families must apply every year to request Inter-district enrollment approval. New inter-district transfer requests may not be approved until school begins, pending space availability.  After submitting this form, please return to this enrollment page and follow instructions to enroll your student. Please note that existing AUSD students do not need to re-enroll for the new school year.

Please contact or go directly to your requested school of attendance prior to completing this online enrollment in order to confirm there is space available in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) at that school.
 
2022-23 School Year Age Eligibility and Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten  (TK):
    • If your child's 5th birthday is September 2, 2022 through February 2, 2023, then your child is eligible to be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for the 2022-23 school year.
