Board of Trustees Members
Term Year 2022
Julann was elected to the Board in November 2014. Julann is a passionate advocate for public education at both the local and State level. Julann has also served as a Delegate on the California School Boards Association since 2016, and she served on the Policy Platform Committee in 2019.
Prior to being elected to the Board of Trustees, Julann served for more than a dozen years in key leadership positions that support Auburn schools, including two-years as president of the Auburn Education Foundation. She also served several years on the AUSD Budget Committee, 21st Century Schools Committee, and served in many leadership roles on the Parent Teacher Club organizations of Alta Vista and E. V. Cain Middle School.
Julann is a bookkeeper and accounting manager for a number of small businesses in Auburn and Rocklin. Julann has lived in Auburn since 2000 with her husband and their two sons who attended Alta Vista and E. V. Cain Middle School and are graduates of Placer High School.

Michelle Sierra-Sammons has been a member of the Auburn Union School District Board of Trustees since her election in 2014. Michelle serves on the Placer County Committee representing Supervisorial District 5, which is involved in school and community college district organization matters. Michelle also serves as an Assessment Supervisor for the Placer County Assessor’s Office. She represents the county on the California Assessor’s Association Forms Sub- Committee and the California Assessors’ Administrative Services Association Education Committee.
Michelle has been a longtime advocate for children and education. Prior to moving to Auburn in 1997, Michelle was employed by the Lancaster School District in Lancaster, California as an instructional assistant, with a focus on special education class settings. She has served on the board for the non-profit group Caring Hearts Society and joined the Auburn Kiwanis in November 2019. Michelle lives in Auburn with her husband, Bill Sammons.
Sarah Brichler, M.Ed.
Term Year 2024
Sarah Brichler was elected as a Trustee in 2020. She is the parent of a current AUSD student and is deeply invested in quality public education for all students. She served on the Alta Vista Community Charter School Governance Council, and volunteers with the Bucks Booster Club Parent Teacher Club, the Sight Word Busters and as a member of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team.
Sarah earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Santa Clara University and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Virginia. Her professional experience includes a decade in the public Behavioral Health system working with counties and community organizations as a program evaluator and contract manager. Promoting the social-emotional well-being of the school community is a high priority.

As a citizen and community member within Auburn, Debbie is honored to have been appointed to serve on the Auburn Union School District Board starting in 2012. She and her husband have two children that promoted from AUSD and graduated from Placer High School. Debbie strives to bring valuable insight and personal experience as an AUSD parent in providing leadership within our local school system. Debbie's experience also includes previously sitting on the Colfax Elementary School District and Colfax Jr. Falcon Football and Cheer Board of Trustees as well as the Placer Jr. Hillmen Football and Cheer Board of Trustees. Debbie currently works for Placer County in the Clerk-Recorder’s Office.

A mother, an educator, and an award-winning recording artist Jamie Ross, aka J. Ross Parrelli, has a passion for bringing creative teaching and cultural equity to the forefront whether in a classroom or on a stage. Raised in Auburn and a graduate of AUSD schools, Ms. Ross received her teaching credential from Long Beach State and is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Policy and Leadership in Education at Mills College.
Ms. Ross founded Beats Lyrics Leaders, an organization that works to empower young people through exposure to cultural arts, music production, and entrepreneurship and works alongside the California Department of Education to build a Teaching Artist Initiative to get artists in the classrooms. She is currently an Artist in Residence with the Office of Arts and Culture in Sacramento working in the Oak Park Community Center, as well as Sacramento City Unified School District and Twin Rivers School District. J Ross is Executive Strategic Planning and Artist Relations for Innervoice Media. J Ross has performed thorough out the globe giving keynote speeches, performing at Assemblies, teaching workshops, and producing Conferences for Youth and Teachers all throughout the globe. Ms. Ross is dedicated to cultivating a safe, inclusive, and engaging educational experience for all students.
