What is Distance LEarning?
Top of Page

Distance Learning is instruction which involves Synchronous and Asynchronous elements. Synchronous learning is online or distance education that happens in real-time, whereas asynchronous learning occurs through online channels without real-time interaction. Distance Learning requires the use of various technologies to facilitate student-teacher and student-student communication.

The intent of Distance Learning is not to replace the experience a student has in his or her classroom, but to support students with continued learning while away from campus. The lesson plans and activities teachers organize will help students progress to the end of the year goals.
