Alta Vista School is the oldest of the five schools in the Auburn Union School District. Alta Vista was built in 1907. Prior to 2008, Alta Vista was an elementary school serving grades K-8. Currently the campus is being used as an educational center with an emphasis on preschool education.

Elementary is a Kindergarten through fifth grade
school located in the north area of town. The school
opened in July of 1995 on a multi-track, year-round
schedule. In 2001-02 the school returned to a traditional
schedule. The school features a complete library, up-to-date
computer lab, life lab garden area, playground shade/misting
area and a courtyard pavilion area. Auburn Elementary
students have exceeded the state-wide average in state
test scores each year.

Principal: Suzanne Flint Rock
Creek School, located in North Auburn, was selected
as a California Distinguished School in 1997. This singular
distinction reflects the ongoing commitment that is
shared by parents and staff to ensure that all students
are successful, lifelong learners. Although Rock Creek
School was originally built in 1965, the classrooms
and computer lab were modernized in 2003 followed by
the administration building and multipurpose room which
were completed in 2006. The school serves Kindergarten
through fifth grade students. Partnerships between school
and community organizations offer additional programs
such as the Life Lab and Community Garden.

Skyridge
School is distinguished by high academic achievement,
involved and supportive parents and a dedicated staff.
The school is located in a residential area of south
Auburn. The school celebrated its completion in 1994
but its roots go back to the old Auburn Grammar School,
the original school in Auburn. One of the distinguishing
characteristics is the central park-like quad bordered
by the library, multi-purpose room and classrooms.

Cain Charter Middle School is located near
Highway 49 in Auburn. The school was constructed in 1949
but underwent extensive remodeling from 1996 to 2001 when
facilities for P.E., science, music, and art were completed.
E.V. Cain enjoys a reputation as having a strong academic
and elective program and is proud of its many successes:
Counseling program, Positive Recognition Program, athletics,
Power Hour – After School Tutoring
(in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club) and drama productions. E.V. Cain became a STEM charter school in 2010 focusing on Science, TEchnology and Math.
