The Auburn Union School District's Blended Preschool Program is a high quality, affordable preschool program for 3-5 year old students with and without disabilities.
THe AUSD Blended Preschool Program was developed to meet the needs of both typically developing preschoolers and preschoolers with special needs. It is our goal to provide an exemplary preschool program taught by highly trained teachers and staff that will effectively educate all students enrolled in the program. This program provides students with disabilities appropriate language and social peer models, as well as an opportunity to interact with peers who have different needs. Our developmentally appropriate curriculum encourages children to be actively involved in the learning process. There is a balance of small and large group activities that are teacher- and children- directed to promote development of the whole child.
The AUSD Blended Preschool Program teaching team includes a licensed early childhood educator who works in collaboration with a credentialed early childhood special education teacher. Preschoolers also have access to instruction from a Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and other district professionals. All of the staff have training in the field of early childhood education including developmentally appropriate activities and research based instructional strategies.
Our language rich curriculum and preschool activities promote kindergarten preparedness. There is not only a focus on developmentally appropriate activities, but also on the California Preschool Learning Foundation (CPLF) curriculum. The CPLF is, in part, the California Department of Education's efforts to strengthen preschool education and school readiness and to close the achievement gap in California.
Each class will have approximately 20 students with a blend of typically developing and students with special needs. Each class is staffed with a credentialed teacher and paraprofessionals who have have frequent collaboration time and instruction from both a Speech and Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist.
At $200 per month, tuition is less than many of the local preschool programs! |
